Doris worked as a medical assistant and teacher's aide in New York. She was a secretary and a middle school athletic director for East Penn School District. Doris was an avid swimmer. She also loved sewing, playing cards, dining out, visiting with family and friends, talking with her sister on the phone, and PSU tailgating. Her favorite pastime, however, was watching her children and grandchildren play sports. Doris volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, a Sunday School teacher, and a Vacation Bible School instructor. She was a member of the Macungie Garden Club and the LVH Axillary and volunteered at Macungie Park and the LVHN gift shop. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit where she served on the decorating committee, the alter guild and the quilting group. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Larry and her son, Scott. She is survived by her daughter Beth and husband Ron Witte of Emmaus, daughter Susan Carraher of Emmaus, sister Ann (Bill) Sullivan and daughter-in- law Gretchen Carraher-Kohler (Ben). Doris had 7 grandchildren – Ross (Jamie) and Mattison Witte, Erin (Mike) Piazza, Brian (Charity), Drew, Molly, and Kyle Carraher. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Friday, July 6th from 10:30-12PM at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus.
